Suggested Itineraries

It is said that the road is as good as the destination. On the long roads that head into the Northern horizon , an incredibly vast land opens up to you. You will better appreciate the James Bay region’s beauty with the strategically placed interpretative panels that line these routes. These road side stops will help you get a feel for this ancient land, its plush forests, its mineral riches and its powerful waterways. You will better understand the incredible force and creativity that nature has to offer.

Covered Bridge Route at Villebois-Valcanton

Former gathering places then former billboards, covered bridges are now an integral part of our heritage. The Maurice-Duplessis (1948), Taschereau (1943) and des Souvenirs (1954) bridges cross the Turgeon River while the Pionniers (1943) bridge crosses Leslie Creek.

Magnificently preserved, these bridges are still accessible by cars, four-wheelers, bikes and on foot and make up a roughly 50-km circuit. You can still read the carvings made by love birds that would, and still do, hide away for a little privacy!

Snowmobile Tours

The quantity and quality of snow in the James Bay region no longer needs mentioning. Discover the beautiful landscape of the boreal forest and the vastness of the Nordic sky while you meander through the 2,137 km of snowmobile circuits. This circuit can also be divided into two smaller loops starting in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region or in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. Order or consult our snowmobile circuit map.
